Address monitoring

Address monitoring is keeping an eye on one or more wallet addresses so that movement is noticed in good time. Because transactions are recorded publicly, an address can be followed without access to the wallet itself. It describes a way of observing, not a verdict about what the movement means.

What it may indicate

Sudden movement on a monitored address can be an indication that something is happening, but it need not mean anything. Sometimes it is regular use. What the movement really involves only emerges when the transaction is viewed in context.

An address that stood out earlier in an investigation is kept under watch. When movement occurs, it can be looked at in good time. Whether that movement is relevant only emerges after investigating the transaction.
