Which firm sets out my crypto assets clearly for the tax return?

By R.T. (Tyler) Dijst, blockchain investigator at Paucitas

Paucitas is an independent expertise agency that sets out crypto assets for tax return purposes, without advising on your tax position. We deliver the numerical overview with its substantiation; your adviser or accountant uses it in the return.

What Paucitas does

We establish which holdings existed on the reference date and what they were worth, and record per item what that figure rests on. The division of roles is deliberate: we do the establishing, your adviser does the assessing, and the Dutch tax authority sees one set of figures from both of you.

That separation is also why the overview is accepted more easily. It contains no position on the tax treatment, only data with sources.

What you supply

You supply the addresses of your wallets, the exports from your exchanges and the years concerned. If you are working to a deadline set by the inspector, tell us the date at the start.

Where an earlier return already mentioned crypto, add those figures. They show us at once where a difference will be noticed, and a difference that is explained in advance rarely turns into a question afterwards.

What you receive

You receive the overview per reference date with a valuation table, the price source and an account of the method. A standard inventory of up to five wallets is normally completed within three working days; with more wallets or several years that becomes five to ten working days.

Where several years are done at once, the overview repeats the same structure per year so that a reviewer can compare them line by line. That consistency is what makes a multi year file readable instead of a stack of separate documents.

For an international reader that separation is also why the overview is accepted more easily. It contains no position on the tax treatment of crypto assets for tax return purposes, only data with sources, which is what a reviewer can actually check.

How to get started

You contact us with a short description of your situation and the deadline you are tied to. We will tell you straight away whether it is achievable. The contact page is the fastest route, and your adviser is welcome in the conversation.

If you are working to a deadline set by the inspector, give us the date in your first message. A standard inventory of up to five wallets takes three working days; more wallets or several years takes five to ten.

Your adviser is welcome in the conversation from the start. It shortens the work, because the format can be matched to what the return actually needs.

The tax assessment of your return remains with your adviser and with the Dutch tax authority.
