Who prepares an overview of my crypto for my bookkeeper?

By S.E. (Simcha) Schrijver, blockchain investigator at Paucitas

Paucitas answers the question who prepares an overview of my crypto for my bookkeeper by delivering the holdings, the transactions and the substantiation per line in a form that can be processed directly. You supply your addresses and exports, we deliver the tables and the note that records the choices made.

What Paucitas does

We convert your transactions into one continuous series giving the date, the counterparty, the coin, the quantity and the value in euros at the moment of the transaction. Internal movements between your own wallets are separated out, because counting them as purchases or sales is the error that costs the most time to unwind later.

The step most often underestimated is the link between your private wallets and the business account. That is where a bookkeeper stops, and it is where the records usually turn out to be missing.

What you supply

You supply the addresses of your wallets, the exports from your exchanges and the bank statements of the accounts involved. If your bookkeeper works in a particular package, tell us which one and we will match the column layout to it.

Bank statements of the accounts involved belong in the set, along with the ledger data if the holdings touch a company. Where a wallet was used both privately and for business, say so at the start rather than later.

What you receive

You receive a transaction overview, a balance table per reference date and a short note setting out which choices were made in the conversion. That note matters at year end: it records which rate source was used and how a transfer with no counterparty was treated.

The files are delivered in a format that can be imported, and the same figures are also given in a readable table so that a reviewer does not need the software to follow them.

Three deliverables come out of it: a transaction overview, a balance table per reference date, and a short note recording the choices made in the conversion. An overview of my crypto that does not record its rate source is of little use at year end, which is why the note is part of the set rather than an extra.

How to get started

You contact us with a short description of your situation and, if possible, with your bookkeeper copied in. That usually shortens the work, because the requirements are clear from the first message. The contact page is the place to start.

Copy your bookkeeper in on the first message if you can. The requirements are then clear from the start, and the column layout can be matched to the package they use.

Whether your bookkeeper adopts the figures unchanged is for them to decide.
